Growing up in a Jewish home in an inner city neighborhood has given rise to a very unique comedy style that people fall in love with. Being the only white guy on many of his little league sports teams has left Simon with a rich understanding of all aspects of the American spectrum that few get to have. From the city to the country Simon’s jokes appeal to everybody. Simon Kaufman is a 4th generation comedic actor tracing his roots back to vaudeville, Yiddish theater, and the early days of Broadway. It’s the family business. He’s appeared on “The Millionaire Matchmaker” on the Bravo Channel, The TV show “The 206”, and the movie “Silver Skies” with George Hamilton, Valerie Perrine, and Dick Van Patten.

His comedy is cerebral but not stuffy and therefore works for all types of audiences. His act is about the chaos of life, the over consumption of modern times, and lack of common sense. Simon makes you look at yourself and laugh and points fun at our current age of rapid evolution.

On Simon’s fathers’ side, one great grandfather was a traveling Vaudeville and Yiddish theater actor and the other was a stage producer on Broadway. His father was also a stand-up comedian, wrote for M.A.D. Magazine and paid his way through college as an actor in community theater where he worked alongside future novelist Robert Ludlum and received a stellar review by John Travolta’s Mom who was the drama coach at the prestigious Evergreen School for Boys drama department in New Jersey. Simon is also related on his father’s side to famous American Playwright George S Kaufman who wrote for the Marx Brothers, also wrote “A Night at the Opera”, and won the 1951 Tony award for best director for “Guys and Dolls”. The screen adaptation of his play “You Can’t take it With You” won the best picture Oscar in 1938.

Simon is also cousins with American playwrights Bel Kaufman who wrote the Novel and movie “Up the Down Staircase” in 1964, and Hy Kaufman who wrote several comedy books, Broadway plays and screenplays, working alongside Actors Phil Silvers, Lionel Barrymore, as well as Billie Wilder and Lena Horne. He was also known for a funny public feud with Milton Berle.

That’s just on his father’s side.  On his mother’s side he descends from Polish Jewish Immigrants who lived in the projects and tenement houses and EVERYONE in the family is funny with a wry witty sarcastic old school humor. There can never be a heckler that can ridicule Simon worse than his own mother, aunts, and cousins already have (with love).

Simon grew up in the environment where humor was used to overlook the fact that they were low income and struggling. Simon plans to continue that tradition by bringing more jokes to more folks.
